Travelling down the bumpy and twisted path of life learning more everyday about how much I enjoy the simple things in life, hard work and standing up for what is right. I am proud of my heritage (fourth generation farmer) and mutt mix of English, Native American Indian and Irish. I have worked hard over the past six years to develop the farm, an ag-based biomass business and ag-awareness. I don’t have much more than a passion for the farming life…and I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world!
We are working hard to develop a sustainable environment here on our farm. We raise steers for beef. We have a mixed group of cattle for dairy and beef. Chickens and turkeys for eggs and meat. We grow a big garden, with the purpose of planting for canning and/or freezing. We have three upright freezers full of beef, turkey and chicken. In 2008, we started with 23 chickens and a lone jersey steer called Buck. Since then, we have expanded and are currently operating around 110 acres of pasture land, 27 head of cattle from Jersey, Jersey crosses to Irish Dexters. We have 50 egg laying chickens and 8 turkeys too. We raise batches of meat chickens and Thanksgiving turkeys on pasture each year too.
Oh yeah and that doesn’t include the two hound (one bluetick and one bloodhound) dogs or the cat that thinks she is a dog!
For 2015, we are slated to have 10 calves hit the ground before summer is finished! Hard to even fathom how much the farm has grown after the first steer! Everything is always in constant change but we love every second of every day!
